What we collect
- When you fill in a form (volunteering, fundraising, sponsorship, event registration, telling us about a gift, asking for wire transfer details, and the other forms on this website): your name, your email address, your phone number if you give it, and your answers.
- A screenshot of your payment, if you choose to attach one when you tell us about a gift.
- When you sign up for news: your email address.
This website never asks for card or bank account numbers. If you request help for your family, please don't include medical records or diagnosis details; we'll ask for what we need when we talk.
What we don't do
We don't sell or rent your information. This website doesn't use advertising, analytics or tracking cookies.
How we use it
- To reply to you, and to send your receipt.
- To manage event registrations, sponsorships, partnerships and fundraisers.
- To review nominations, community projects and requests for help.
- To send the news emails you signed up for.
- To keep the records a charity is required to keep.
Who can see it
Only the foundation's staff, through a private, password-protected area of this website. Payment screenshots are kept private and can only be opened by staff.
Services that help run this website
- Supabase stores what you send through the website, in the United States.
- Cloudflare hosts the website and runs a spam check when you use a form. The check looks at information about your browser and device, to tell people from automated spam.
- Google Fonts provides the website's typefaces. Your browser fetches them from Google, which receives your IP address.
- YouTube and Vimeo play videos on the pages that have them. YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode is used.
- Payment apps and networks. When you give by Cash App, Venmo, cryptocurrency or wire transfer, the payment happens in that service, under its own privacy policy, not on this website. Cryptocurrency transactions are recorded publicly on their blockchain.
Stored in your browser
Your choice of light or dark appearance, and your donation choices while you're on the Donate page (they're cleared when you close the tab). These stay in your browser and aren't sent to us.
How long we keep it
We keep your information only as long as we need it to respond to you, keep proper records and meet our legal obligations, and then delete it. A payment screenshot is deleted together with the gift report it came with. You can ask us to stop sending news emails at any time.
Your choices
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. Contact us using the details at the bottom of this page.
Children
This website isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their information. Requests for help for a child should be sent by a parent or guardian.
Security
The website is served over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), access to what you send is limited to the foundation's staff, and forms are protected against automated spam. No way of sending or storing information is completely secure, so please don't send anything through the website that you'd need kept absolutely secret.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
