Ways to give
How can I give?
On the Donate page: choose an amount and a cause, then give by Cash App, Venmo, cryptocurrency or wire transfer. The page shows the foundation's details for each one, with a QR code you can scan from your phone.
Can I give by card or PayPal?
Not at the moment. You can give by Cash App, Venmo, cryptocurrency or wire transfer.
Can I choose where my gift goes?
Yes. On the Donate page, choose one of the foundation's programs or campaigns as the cause, or leave it where it's needed most.
Can I give in honor or memory of someone?
Yes. After you give, fill in Tell us about your gift and choose “In honor of someone” or “In memory of someone”. Tell us who the gift is for, and anyone we should let know about it.
Can I give by check, stock or a donor-advised fund?
Get in touch using the contact details at the bottom of this page, and the foundation's team will explain how.
Receipts and taxes
How do I get a receipt?
After you give, fill in Tell us about your gift with the amount, the date and how you sent it. Cash App, Venmo, crypto and wire gifts don't reach the website, so this is how the foundation knows your gift is yours. The foundation's team emails your receipt.
Is my gift tax-deductible?
The foundation's legal status and EIN (its US tax number) are listed at the bottom of every page. Keep the receipt the foundation emails you, and ask a tax adviser how your gift applies to your own taxes.
Crypto and wire transfers
What should I check before sending crypto?
On the Donate page, choose the coin, then the network. Send only that coin, on that network, to the address shown. A gift sent on the wrong network can be lost for good, and nobody can bring it back.
If you're sending a large amount, send a small test first and check it arrives.
Are there tax rules for gifts of crypto?
In the US, the IRS treats cryptocurrency as property, so a crypto gift follows the rules for gifts of property. Gifts worth more than $5,000 usually need a qualified appraisal and an extra IRS form. Ask a tax adviser before you give.
How do I give by wire transfer?
Choose wire transfer on the Donate page and send the short request form. The foundation's team replies from the foundation's own email address with the bank details. The bank details are never shown on the website.
They are never changed by email. If you get a message saying the foundation's bank details have changed, don't send the wire. Contact the foundation using the details at the bottom of this page.
Staying safe
How do I know I'm giving to the real foundation?
Give through the Donate page on this website, and check the name shown in Cash App or Venmo matches the Donate page before you send. Cody's official social accounts are linked at the bottom of every page.
The foundation will never text, email or message you asking you to pay a different account, to buy gift cards, or to send money privately.
Someone contacted me asking for money. What should I do?
Don't send anything. Compare the request with this website, and tell the foundation using the contact details at the bottom of this page.
Getting involved
How can I help without giving money?
You can volunteer, offer goods or services, nominate a child, family or community, or come to an event. See every option on the Get Involved page.
Can I raise money for the foundation?
Yes. Tell the foundation your plan with the Start a fundraiser form. The team replies with a donation link for your cause and how to use the foundation's name. Please wait for that reply before asking anyone to give.
Can my business sponsor or partner with the foundation?
Your information
